WELCOME TO NINE HALLS.

[ Alone late one night, you feel something is slightly amiss. Perhaps you dismiss it, perhaps you don't, but it doesn't matter for very long. It's only a moment later that a figure appears before you: a person clad head to toe in black, not even a sliver of skin or smallest of identifying features visible, a gas mask glinting behind their hood. A hissing sound fills your ears, the same way a white mist does the air; the figure, their voice disguised, speaks.

"Consider this a privilege. You have been chosen. You are going to participate in a game. The Nonary Game. It is a game... where you will put your life on the line."

You have no opportunity to cry out or question them— your consciousness began to fade from the very moment the hissing began, and it's merely a moment after the masked intruder finishes speaking that lucidity slips from your fingers and the darkness of dreamless sleep befalls both your eyes and mind... ]

Welcome to [NINE HALLS], a Zero Escape-themed, Discord-based RP game. This website serves as a hub for general information about the game and will be updated as the game progresses. This website does not exist in-universe, but the information contained within is, with little exception, always known to at least one character— including Zero themselves.

Some small site notes:

  • Unfortunately, the music player on the side of the screen over there --> does not automatically switch to a new song when you click a different button. If you want to listen to a different song, click the square at the end of the list first. I'm not good enough at coding to make it work differently, and all the prebuilt music players I've tried using didn't work.
  • All the links are tabs from this main page other than the PLAYERS link, which leads to its own dedicated page. If you don't want the music interrupted, open it in a new tab.
  • ALL OF THIS SITE IS GONNA LOOK UGLY AS FUCK IN FIREFOX AND IT IS PROBABLY NOT MOBILE FRIENDLY AND PROBABLY LOOKS BAD ON SMALLER SCREENS. Blame Firefox for the first part, it is seriously stupid how many hoops you'd have to jump through just to see the page displayed as intended just because I'm using a custom font for most of it.
  • Everything is spaghetti code. Barely fucking held together. If something is broken, yeah. Yup. That tracks.

  • GAME RULES

    • 1. To enter a numbered door, you must complete the magic square and split into teams.
    • 2. Exactly 3 must enter a numbered door.
    • 3. You must escape from the room beyond the door within 2 hours.
    • 4. There are only 2 ways to remove your bracelet; one, you escape from this building, or two, your heart rate reaches zero.
    • 5. Attempts to tamper with or remove a living player's bracelet by force will be punished.
    • 6. Attempts to tamper with or destroy the escape rooms, and/or any objects important to the escape rooms or the game in general, will be punished. Exceptions apply only to escape room objects that are intended to be tampered with, destroyed, or removed, as per the flow of the escape room.
    • 7. Upon completing an escape room, 2 lights (in the respective colours of the teammates registered to that bracelet) on each participating bracelet will go out. The registered team members may not collaborate again and must select 2 different partners during the next escape room.
    • 8. During team selection, you must always vote for an option that includes completely new team combinations. If the majority vote selects an option that contains an impossible team combination as a result of the previous rule, the vote will be overridden and the option with new combinations will be chosen automatically.
    • 9. Seek the Ninth Hall.
    • 1. The next HETU will activate exactly 3 hours after the last HETU opened its own set of numbered doors. This will happen automatically and requires no input from the players of the game. You must open the next set of numbered doors within 2.5 hours of the HETU activating. Failure to do so will result in punishment.
    • 2. Take the 3 transparent sheets found in each escape room and stack them on top of each other. The sheet with the 3 on it should be the bottom layer, and the sheet with the 1 should be on top.
    • 3. Each HETU has a unique magic square puzzle that must be solved to open the set of numbered doors to which it is assigned. The screen will show a 3x3 grid. Each square of the grid must be filled. There are equations on the bottom of each square. Touching a square will enter the number displayed on the bracelet of a hand that touches it into the blank spot in the equation. If an error is made, touching it again will remove it. The equation's result (e.g. 1 + 1 = 2) will be displayed in the center of the square. Regard the transparent sheets, and ensure that all of the numbers entered in the HETU square correspond with the colours shown on the third sheet. You cannot enter two numbers in one square.
    • 4. If the solution is correct, the tray on the side of the HETU will open. Place the layered sheets into the tray. If they are the correct sheets associated with the HETU in question, the voting period will begin. The voting period will last for a maximum of 5 minutes.
    • 5. Every player must vote on what teams they'd like to split into for the next round. There are two sets of possible teams per HETU: the A set, which determines the teams based on the rows of the grid, and the B set, which determines them by the columns. Pressing the A or B button will set your vote, and majority vote wins. You may not change your vote after pressing the button.
    • 6. If a player does not place their vote within the 5 minutes alloted by the voting period, one of two things may occur:
           •  That player's vote will be skipped
           •  That player's vote will be randomly assigned to one of the available options, and the player will be punished
Which of these occur depends on the reason for their failure to vote.
    • 7. In the event of a tie, the HETU will choose one option at random. It will not choose a choice with a team combination that is impossible. If the majority vote selected a set with a team combination that is impossible, the HETU will override the vote and choose the choice without an impossible team combination.
    • 8. Once the voting has been completed (or the voting period has ended) the HETU will display the winning set of teams, and activate all of its associated registration machines, which will be found next to its associated numbered doors.
    • 9. Each team must select 1 door. Each registration machine will only accept 1 team, and can be registered using any bracelet from that team. Registration is first-come, first-served, and only requires 1 bracelet to be scanned. Once a team has been registered to one machine, they cannot switch to a different one.
    • 10. Once every team has been registered, the numbered doors will open. Only the registered team may pass through their threshold. Attempting to enter an escape room you are not registered at will result in punishment.
    • 11. After you have either cleared the escape room or 3 hours have passed since the numbered doors opened, the numbered door through which you entered will open for anyone to enter or exit at will, as well as all the other doors that may be beyond it, barring any that may be numbered doors from a set you've yet to complete.

    • Admittedly have not kept track of... most... things, because I've been working on this game since 2019 (with the intent the entire thing would be on Discord only) and only made this website in 2023 long after I'd decided on all the materials and whatnot. I'd set this site to private if I could, none of this is really meant to be seen by anyone other than people in the server.
